A joint proposal from the 3 EUNIC clusters in France was accepted in 2016 and awarded 3,000 Euro funding.
The proposal was to run a series of debates around the theme of Reconnecting with Europe. In a conversation with representatives from each cluster, it was agreed that each cluster would arrange its own discussions/debate, but that we would try to ensure they were delivered around the same time of year, and on themes that were consistent. Nevertheless, closer collaboration has proved difficult. The Paris cluster has spent numerous meetings attempting to define the theme and target audience of a debate that can be appealing
enough to reach out to a wider audience than the usual ones associated with our cultural centres. Defining the concept, and securing the
commitment of resources to really develop the propositions has been difficult. However a door has recently been opened to run a discussion
within the framework of the Institut Francais programme Nuit des Idees, which would be a very positive partnership. Currently the participating
members of EUNIC are working up a proposal to fit here so that the debate can take place in January 2018.
