EUNIC ESPAÑA launched the first joint initiative to promote European poetry thanks to the use of mobile phone applications and augmented reality technology with the project "OCUPACCIÓN POÉTICA". The passengers of Metro de Madrid were able to listen to the works of 13 European poets. OCCUPACION POÉTICA placed in a virtual map in different stations in the network of the metro of Madrid, audio files of poems recorded in Spanish and in their original languages. Any user of the metro in Madrid network could (and still can) listen to geolocated audio files on several stations thanks to the free Layar (IOS / Android) application. The selection of the poems was geolocated in 7 stations of the metro to create a bridge between the content and the space around the Bibliometros (small libraries in the metro stations in Madrid). The public campaign with Metro de Madrid was from December 15, 2015 until January 29, 2016.
During these weeks users of the metro were advised through printed advertisements (postcards and posters) of the available poetry, of the multilingual audio files that were available through the free application LAYAR. Through scanning the posters and postcards of the project, designed by the Czech artist Jan Pisarik, all the audio files were available on the spot. Besides, all the contents and additional information were and are still available on the project website, since each poem is accompanied by information about its author:
Short summary: 7 Bibliometro stations in the metro of Madrid, 9 cultural partners,
8 languages, 17 poems, 11 translators, 24 voices, 1703 app users, 4752 visits on the homepage.
