In 2016 EUNIC Montevideo, launched the first European Festival of Expanded Cinema: united for Peace”. With the support of the Cluster Fund and involvement of the EU Delegation; Ministry of Culture and Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uruguay, Montevideo City Council, the university and the Centre of Art and Science, the cluster is preparing for a second more expanded edition of the festival with the focus on diversity, reflecting as well on the context of a plural vision of Uruguayan society built under the influences of huge migration influxes in the past, as well as the theme playing a central role in the current global panorama. As a way of helping to reinforce the artistic competences of the local actors in the creative and audio-visual sector, the cluster is planning a range of performances, creations, workshops and mini conferences on expanded cinema at different historical locations, contributing to the appreciation of the national patrimony.
