EUNIC Regional Cluster Seminar Europe 2024 in Warsaw

Colleagues from EUNIC clusters around Europe came together on 28 & 29 October for the Regional Cluster Seminar in Warsaw, Poland.

A two-day seminar brought together representatives from EUNIC clusters across Europe to strengthen our shared network, exchange insights and experiences, and explore topics shaping cultural relations. Hosted by EUNIC Warsaw at the Pawilon SARP, the event provided space for fruitful discussions on current issues and new developments impacting our work across the continent.

The seminar opened with updates on EUNIC’s recent initiatives and resources to support clusters. EUNIC President Liviu Jicman joined the conversation, sharing his perspective on making the most of engagement within the network. Breakout sessions on cluster governance, communication practices, and local strategy development gave participants a chance to exchange insights and best practices, highlighting both the challenges and successes of local clusters.

Tetyana Filevska, Creative Director at the Ukrainian Institute, shared updates on Ukraine and how EUNIC members can continue supporting Ukrainian artists and cultural projects.

The second day began with a focus on the local context in Poland. Olga Wysocka, Director at the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, shed light on the country's evolving cultural landscape and its implications for cultural relations in and with Poland.

The programme also explored opportunities for collaboration with EU partners, including recent policy developments. A panel with representatives from the European Commission and Culture Action Europe discussed key policy priorities, and we explored opportunities presented through Culture Moves Europe, the EU’s largest artist mobility programme.

Throughout the seminar, peer-to-peer breakout sessions addressed important emerging topics, including climate action, shrinking civic spaces, and cross-border collaboration. These sessions encouraged participants to share practical strategies for tackling these challenges. We also heard from EUNIC clusters involved with European Capitals of Culture and bilateral cultural seasons, offering valuable insights into how these initiatives foster collaboration across countries.

The seminar concluded with a visit to Warsaw’s recently reopened Museum of Modern Art - a memorable close to two days of productive discussions and fresh ideas for strengthening Europe’s cultural network.
