The British Isles welcome: EUNIC Mobility Scheme in Manchester

Since the Ukrainian Institute became an associate member of EUNIC, many new opportunities for international cooperation and development have opened up. One is the EUNIC Mobility Scheme, which made possible the February visit to the British Council office in Manchester by Mariia Protsiuk of the Ukrainian Institute.

It was an intense three-day program about the British-Ukrainian-Maltese exchange of experience, ideas, knowledge, and vision of our institutions' work in the field of research and analytics.

My surprise at the fact that the number of participants in the mobility program was tiny was replaced by the joy of the opportunities for open-minded, friendly, sincere, and frank communication about common challenges, problems, and solutions that our cultural institutions face regardless of geopolitical conditions and geographical location.

Monitoring and evaluation of research impact, strategic research approaches and relevant methods, research teamwork, UN Sustainable Development Goals, global challenges, and cultural management in terms of analytical work and academic programs, peculiarities of research program funding, ways of research promotion - these are just a few of the thematic areas covered and discussed during the EUNIC Mobility Scheme at the British Council Manchester office.

In addition, the hosts took care of our leisure time in advance of our visit by sending us a comprehensive list of cultural events that were taking place in Manchester during our stay. Our program of meetings at the British Council was well-designed to allow us to visit museums, galleries, and theatres. Special thanks for this thoughtful timing and comprehensive approach.

My sincere gratitude to the Manchester office of the British Council for their hospitality, to all the colleagues who met with us for their frankness and openness, and to EUNIC for being a great network for sharing experiences and borrowing best practices from the member institutions. This knowledge will definitely be useful in our future work. Looking forward to new meetings and opportunities!
